Favorite lessons on my birthday

August 26, 2013 //  by Kristine Bruneau//  Leave a Comment

tiki godToday is my birthday, and I wanted to share some of my favorite lessons that I’ve posted over the years. As a bonus, I published “Puppy Sitting Lessons: Eat, poop, and play” to the Moms blog at the Democrat and Chronicle. Enjoy!

Lesson 1. What would life look like without creativity?  Life without creativity would be unremarkable.

Lesson 2. Let go  It’s more about what you let go than what you accomplish.

Lesson 3. Rejection and Sabotage  If someone wants to say no, let them. But no need to help them get to no before they get the chance.

Lesson 4. Feeling Stressed? Take a One Minute Sabbatical  Work, kids and a poop-eating puppy can cause lots of stress. Let’s take a sabbatical!

Lesson 5. What I learned from Bruce Springsteen about fear. Even ater a prolific and successful career in music, Springsteen still has fear and doubt. We can all learn something from this masterful storyteller and prolific artist.

Lesson 6. Dear God, love me a little less. “Dear God, love me a little less,” is one of my favorite lines from the movie “Evan Almighty” and it takes on a new meaning as I reflect upon the loss of my dear friend.

Lesson 7. What’s your dream?  More resolutions are forgotten than achieved. A better idea is to think about a lifelong dream or two, and set goals to achieve them.

Lesson 8. Opening presents is a lot like making art. Tap your inner artist and go make your art, regardless of what people think.

Lesson 9. Beginner’s mind opens you up to new possibilities.  Approaching yoga and other things in life with a beginner’s mind can help reset, even the most inflexible of us.

Lesson 10. Start again today. Which is worse: not finishing or not starting? Don’t know? Start again, today!
