Twelve Cats of Christmas

December 23, 2010 //  by Kristine Bruneau//  Leave a Comment

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me – a cat who couldn’t sit still.

The cats of Catype practically leap off the page in this compact, soft-covered book of fun, feline illustrations with distinct personalities. Each colorful kitty is a clever manipulation of letters that spell its name. One of my favorites is “Aggressive.” The letters are stacked, turned and entwined to create an arched body that looks like an angry cat.

You don’t have to be a cat lover to love these designs. (It makes a great hostess gift, too.)

Behind the book: my Dad.

Frank Argento is an award-winning, artist who happens to be my Dad. One day while watching his puffball Buster play, he became captivated by the spirited and predatory behaviors he saw. He sketched out Buster’s antics on paper and later graphically manipulated them on the computer using typography, color and patterns to create the cast of Catype.

Buy the book at lulu.com. You can see and purchase more Catype stuff online at frankargentoart.com .(You can also send a note to the artist at fargento@frankargentoart.com.)
